What is the recommended GPU hardware for HFSS acceleration?
HFSS has different solvers with different supported GPUs as seen below:
- HFSS Frequency-domain and Time-domain solvers:
- NVIDIA Data Center GPUs from the Ampere series and Tesla GPUs from the Volta, Pascal, and Kepler generations are supported. However, NVIDIA Workstation RTX and Quadro GPUs are generally not supported, with the exception of the Quadro GV100.
- The HFSS SBR+ solver:
- Supports NVIDIA Data Center GPUs from the Ampere series and Tesla GPUs from the Volta, Pascal, Maxwell, and Kepler generations, and it supports NVIDIA Workstation GPUs from the RTX and Quadro families.
- HFSS Direct Solver cuDSS integration:
- Data center GPUs like A100, H100, and B100 are recommended for optimal double precision performance due to their high memory bandwidth capabilities.
Additionally, the Ansys Electromagnetics HPC Administrator's Guide recommends NVIDIA Tesla cards for optimal performance, especially when using multiple cards on one machine for parallel processing.
