How to import Cadence BRD/SIP/MCM files into AEDT
The Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT) supports the direct import of native Cadence files in brd, sip, and mcm formats. For this method to function, extracta.exe, a Cadence-supplied executable, must be installed on the same machine and included in the executable path. The steps below show how to add extracta.exe to the system path:
- Search for extracta.exe in the Cadence installation directory and copy its path. For example, the path may be C:\Cadence\SPB_17.4\tools\bin:
- Open Edit System Environment Variables from the Control Panel and click on Environment Variables:
- In the System variables section, find the Path variable and click Edit…:
- In the Edit Environment Variable window, click New, paste the path for extracta.exe, and then click OK:
- Restart the computer to apply the newly added system path.
Once the path to the Extracta executable is added to the system path, open AEDT, click on File > Import > Cadence APD/Allegro/SiP… and select the file to be imported.
