How to import a Nastran file in Ansys
A .nas file is a finite element model definition from a third party software which can be imported into Ansys Mechanical.
Importing a Nastran file is a straight forward task in Ansys Workbench, you can follow these steps:
1. Open Ansys Workbench-Import.
2. Select the .nas file.
3. This will create two blocks into Workbench.
- An External Model block that will import the Nastran file.
- A Mechanical Model that translates the information and creates the finite element model in Mechanical. Here you have Mesh, Boundary Conditions and Materials from your Nastran files.
4. You can add an analysis and solve this model. No need to add more definitions if the original model is complete.
