How to create a Cutout Subdesign in ANSYS HFSS Layout?
The HFSS Layout tool allows the users to create cutout subdesigns to simulate a portion of a board file.
To create a cutout subdesign to simulate a portion of a board file, first draw a rectangle:
In the Ribbon, with the Layout tab highlighted, select the Draw rectangle icon or an alternative way to draw rectangle; select the menu item Draw -> Primitive -> Rectangle
In order to cut out the subdesign, make sure the rectangle is selected then in the ribbon, with the Layout tab selected, select Cutout, which opens the Cutout Subdesign dialog box. This cutout function can also be accessed with the menu item Layout -> Cutout Subdesign
Check the box for Create new <Create new parent HFSS 3D Layout>, a list of all Nets will appear and the Net name filter can be used in order to show a smaller list of the desired nets. Once the Nets desired are selected, click OK to create the cutout subdesign.
