How to create a coordinate variable force in Mechanical.

External Data allows users to define variable forces.

To create a space varying force you need to use the 'External data' module on Workbench. You can find it on the 'Component Systems' section of the 'Toolbox'.

Then, you'll connect it to a 'Setup' cell in a Structural Analysis.

The External Data object requires the definition of an external file to be imported (txt file is good for this task).

Let's assume this is the data structure to define a Z coord -variable force:

The external data allows you to select the source file, definitions and format of the data. There is also a preview available.

This will create an imported load object, here you're able to select the force object.

Now, you can select the surface to apply the force. Default settings will work well here.

In the Data View you can select the force components.

Here, you can see the imported load. Please note is only applied at X=0. If you want to cover the full width, is important to define the file properly.
