Exporting Time-Series Data from Parametric Studies in Ansys Maxwell
If you're running a 2D or 3D transient parametric simulation in Ansys Maxwell (e.g. analyzing torque, voltage, or loss over time), here's how to extract time-series data across multiple parameter variations
✅ Steps to Plot and Export Time-Series Data
-
Open the Results Viewer
Go to the New Report window and select the type of scalar result you'd like to plot (e.g., torque, phase voltage, eddy current loss). -
Use the 'Families' Tab
In the Families tab, select the parameterized variables you'd like to sweep.
📌 Tip: To see all variations, make sure variables are not locked to nominal values (see below). -
Check or Uncheck 'Nominals'
If a parameter is locked to its nominal value, click the arrow next to it in the Nominals section and uncheck it. This makes the variable available in the Families box and in your sweep.->
-
Plot Multiple Traces
With variables unselected from Nominals, you can plot data for all parameter variations on the same graph. -
Export to CSV
Once your chart is configured, simply right-click on the plot or use the toolbar to export the data to CSV for further analysis.
🧠 Why This Matters
This method gives you quick access to compare scalar results over time for each parametric variation — ideal for analyzing performance trends across your design space.
